Faith.....
On Tuesday night Michael had a football game. They were playing Desert Hills Gold team. The 2nd play of the game Michael caught an interception and ran it for 10 yards. The next play Michael busted through a hole in the middle and had just broke free when he collapsed. As everyone went running over there it the worst feeling of being a mom. As they turned Michael over you could tell he was in a lot of pain. They carried him off the field and a EMS paramedic came and looked at it. She said she thought it was a PCL injury. Michael tried to run and use it on the side lines but he sat out the rest of the game. He was in quite a bit of pain after he started to cool down and his muscle got tight. The next morning we took him to the Hurricane Instacare and they sent him directly over the Dr. Kerry. He said he thought it also was a PCL tear but would not do anything until an orthopedic surgeon saw him. He sat home the rest of the day trying to do homework that he had been given. Ice and ibuprofen. that night Cory gave Michael a blessing before bed. We were all pretty upset considering. His football season was over and quite possibly more than that. We knew it was a really long road for recovery. The next morning he went to see Dr. Smith who also said it was probably a torn PCL but he was really worried about the meniscus which is the protective pad that is between your tibia (lower leg bone) and femur (upper leg bone). Michael was able to squeeze into an MRI appointment and then we waited.... and waited..... and at 7:30 p.m. Dr. Smith called us with the results. Michael had a tear of the PCL but no a bad one. He also had an injury to the posterior capsule but it wasn't something physical therapy couldn't fix. So the prognosis is good. Michael will start physical therapy and see Dr. Smith in about 10 days and if all is good then he could start some light practice. I know you are all asking yourselves what in the world is she thinking even considering letting her son play after that injury. Well I will put it like this. Football is Michael's life. He thinks it, breaths it and lives it. This is the best time of year and the rest of the year is based on getting ready for the next football season. He wants to play for BYU and make it to the NFL. I know lofty dreams but who am I to not do everything in my power to make the dreams of my children come true. So that is where we are at. Physical therapy should start next week. I am so grateful for the power of the Priesthood. We have been so blessed over the last 2 years as a family. We are truly guided and directed. Most of the time the directed part means we have no other choices but my HF knows we need a little for definite persuasion. LOL! I am so grateful for my knowledge of who I am and why I am here and where I am going. I am so grateful that my family will be with me forever throughout eternity. I am so grateful. Words can not express.....

Hope everything goes good with his recovery and he can get back out on the field. I enjoyed watching him play against Jordan last week. Nothing wrong with dreaming big. I got denied entrance to BYU three different times, then once I finally got in I still had to walk-on to their Cross Country team. Michael is a great kid, tell him to hang in there.
Holy Cow! That is a lot going on in your guys' lives. I am so glad he doing OK. I hope he has a quick recovery. I have always thought how horrible it must be to sit and watch your kids out there on the field. Especially football where they are getting beat up a bit out there. I mean, it is awesome to watch them but scary....I think he is lucky to have parents that encourage him to go after his dreams.
